Dual-Language Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Our goal

• Build a strong foundation in all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
• Deepen each child's understanding of Chinese or Japanese culture through language study.
• Shape culturally sensitive, globally aware, responsible world citizens.

Our approach

• Language basics — express needs and wants, speak in complete sentences, ask questions, enjoy rhymes, songs, and riddles, and practice new vocabulary in the target language.
• Writing & reading — learn writing fundamentals, use basic words in sentences, apply writing concepts, build oral language and reading vocabulary, and respond to stories and texts with understanding.
• Math — develop number sense, use numbers to describe the world, count in sets, and lay the groundwork for addition, subtraction, patterns, and algebra — all in Chinese or Japanese.

1st Grade

Ages 6–7 Chinese/English or Japanese/English

First grade continues the accredited, Common Core path — reading, writing, math, and science — woven together with growing fluency in Chinese or Japanese, taught by the same certified, native-speaking teachers your child already knows.

• Complete, accredited first-grade curriculum
• At least 70% target-language immersion
• Low student-to-teacher ratio
• Second-language literacy alongside English literacy
• Each student receives a laptop for use at school
• Develops all four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing
• A continuous path onward from our Kindergarten
